I moved from Alberta to the Lower Mainland over 40 years ago to join my late brother, Don, in Langley, BC. In 1981, we opened Miller’s Fine Furniture. We quickly outgrew that store and moved to Surrey, where we built a loyal clientele for over 20 years, through great customer service and quality products. In 1989, my younger brother, Gerald, joined us in BC. After 10 years of success in Furniture, Gerald and I pursued a life-changing opportunity to partner with the most recognizable furniture brand name. In 2000, we opened our first La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries store in Richmond, BC and you can still visit that store today on Bridgeport Road!
Furniture through the Years
Since opening our doors in Richmond, I’ve witnessed both our products and how we service clients change. Although quality and comfort are still at the core of the La-Z-Boy brand, recliners are now motorized and covered in beautiful modern fabrics engineered to last longer. Also, in the pre-internet days, families would take months to go from store to store to research designs when furnishing their homes. More impressively, now you can visit a La-Z-Boy Design Center for help from a professional In-Home Designer to achieve beautiful spaces at no extra cost.
Locally Owned and Operated
Through those years our first locally owned and operated La-Z-Boy store expanded. We opened more stores in Coquitlam and North Vancouver. In 2006, we were excited when we returned to Langley and opened our store on the Bypass next to the Toyota Dealership. We eventually employed over 70 staff and opened a 50,000 square foot warehouse in Coquitlam, which today is fully stocked with over 8 million dollars of furniture that is ready to ship to customers. As our stores continued on a growth pattern; we watched the Langley Township grow too. After 15 years of business in that location, I’m proud to say that we have outgrown our Langley store!
The New Langley La-Z-Boy
I invite you all to come and visit the Grand Opening of our new Langley location on the Bypass & 200th Street. I’m sure you will love it as much as I do because it is centrally located, more accessible, and has more customer parking available. It’s the largest in Canada of a new La-Z-Boy concept store, which is a beautifully lit, open-concept space, 25% larger than the old location. It features 47 vignettes and 14 “mini moments”. When you visit, take the time to speak to a Design Consultant for design inspiration where they can help you see and try over 1000 pieces of La-Z-Boy furniture. They can help you find the right fit, show you the best deals, and perhaps put together a custom-built solution for you.
