Winter Decor Trends
Long cozy nights...curled up in front of a fire place; a nice cup of hot cocoa; board games, or your favourite tv show….doesn’t this all sound so nice and wintery? Truth be told, with a month like the October we just experienced in Vancouver BC, where 28 days of rain set the records for us…we need to allow for some interior design tips with deep colours mixed with brassy and coppery tones to flow into our space, and steer us through the wet gloomy months.
Forecasting trends has been a passion for me and inspires me to design with a forward thinking.
The trending palettes for winter 2016
bring us the bold dark, moody colours as the order of the day, while various shades of grey are on hand to provide a more tranquil vibe. If you’re looking for something a little bit lighter, natural tones are the way forward – think deep sea, dove grey with a dash of soot or raspberry red with cooler steels.
In Winter 2016 , we will be seeing lots of green, ranging from emerald to sage and mint; midnight blues complimented by silvered branches, wisps of wood smoke and a frosty window pane… this year’s ‘neutrals’ come in the form of a palette which speaks to the winter-morning greys.
There is an air of indulgence about this season’s throws, rugs and cushions; decor trends textures that are plush and ‘strokable’, seem to be as important as the warmth. Knitted accessories are getting bolder, with huge chunky cable-knits combined with typically wintry, Alpine-inspired materials such as fur and winter branches complimented with tweed throws in a deep-blue.
