La-Z-Boy Vancouver is an independently owned and operated franchise. Owned by brothers who live, work and shop in the Lower Mainland. That allows us to have the support of a big brand but operate our local stores as a family run business.

Story Behind La-Z-Boy Vancouver

“Two brothers who grew up in rural Alberta team up with the most recognized brand in the home furnishings industry.” Not a headline Tim or Gerald would have expected to be written. In 1981, Tim left for the Lower Mainland and partnered with his older brother Don in a small, independent furniture store in Langley, BC. Later on In 1989, Gerald joined Tim for a summer job in his warehouse, which turned into a long-term collaboration. For a decade, the two brothers worked together at Miller’s Fine Furniture and transformed it into one of BC’s most reputable furniture retailers. The brothers’ partnership exceeded everyone’s expectations, resulting in a brand that surpassed their wildest dreams. After 10 years of working together, the brothers finally came to the conclusion that they worked pretty well together. That fact alone made both their parents very happy (They fought a lot growing up!).

That brings us to La-Z-Boy. As the brothers looked for opportunities to become business partners, their friends in the business kept telling them about the success of La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries. A few phone calls later and a meeting with the local rep led to Tim and Gerald boarding a plane for Michigan to visit the world headquarters for La-Z-Boy to learn about the program and for La-Z-Boy to interview the brothers. A relationship was formed and in December of 2000 Tim and Gerald opened their first La-Z-Boy store in Richmond, BC. The partnership between the Miller’s and La-Z-Boy has grown and flourished since then. Tim and Gerald are very proud of the brand, the values it stands for and look forward to many more years of bringing comfort to the homes of our customers.

Giving Back

As a company, La-Z-Boy places great importance on our partnerships with charitable organizations and foundations that align with our values. We are honoured to have established longstanding relationships with the Ronald McDonald House Charities, for which we have been a corporate sponsor and official furniture provider for over 14 years. In addition, we are proud to have partnered with Wagner Hills, Connexions, Faith and Love Haiti, and Children’s Hope Haiti to support those in need around the world. At La-Z-Boy, we are dedicated to giving back and making a positive impact in the communities we serve. We firmly believe that comfort extends beyond the home, and we are committed to improving the lives of others wherever we can.
