Interior Design's Industrial Revolution

At one time we never would’ve imagined decorating our homes with pieces from an old factory warehouse. Galvanized steel carts as coffee tables? Reclaimed splintering and faded wood used for side tables? No way. It does sound a little strange and maybe a bit, well, dirty.

But designing spaces has come a long way over the years and the idea of a well put-together and beautiful space means something entirely new. Perfection has taken a back seat to functionality and “real living”. Because sometimes we all want to throw our feet up on a coffee table and not feel bad about forgetting to remove our shoes. Or to just put that glass of water on a side table without having to scrounge around for a coaster. Life is busy and life can be messy, and sometimes our rooms, and our lives, call for furniture a little less precious.

The ease and comfort of industrial living is just one of the reasons it’s become a favored design trend of 2014. While it isn’t an entirely new trend, it is one that has been steadily gaining momentum within a wide range of design schemes. Its flexibility and unique charm make it seamlessly and harmoniously work in any space, whether modern, traditional, eclectic or transitional. It’s as versatile as it is sturdy!

If you are interested in adding some funky industrial furniture to revolutionize your space you may want to pick up one of the following pieces from the Urban Attitudes Collection.
